Sentence by Yang Shun

In her drawings Yang Shun creates relations between two layers of papers, covering the watercolour on the first layer by a lineal drawing traced on japanese translucent paper.

Yang Shun had found those crinkled mood and language between papers (parchment paper, handmade paper, and watercolor paper). Her work expands, delimits, floats, in muted silence, temperamental, like the dispersing smoke, or the fluid water.

Real Ilusion by Qiu Hong

About her series Real Ilusion Qiu Hong explains that she draws with a diluted ink for the background to trace later the forms directly with vanadium. When the inks began to dry she add the lines and final details.

Qiu Hong’s world of ink painting seems tender, concise lines and rich colors, brilliantly highlights the beauty of the rice paper, like the Song dynasty verses, short lyrics, coated in dreamy papers, soaked with meaning.

Friend by Chen Zijun

Chen Zijun uses mixed media for her works: acrilic paints, charcoal and toner on paper.
In her own words, she search for portraits in the pigment marks while they flow freely on the paper surface.

For Chen Zijun, these warm color tone acrylic is melting one’s material desire and the body, makes one associate it with the intimacy of childhood, the warmth and distance between people. On a thin paper, everything was transformed.

Trace & Phenomenon by Hou Shanhu

Hou Shanhu uses the traditional chinese black ink on paper in two different layers of intensity for her series Trace and Phenomen.

Hou Shanhu’s ink language tends to be leisurely and meditative. The chaos and hatched beauty expressed through asexual diction in a wide area between rubbing and ink painting, seems to both mesmerizing and controlling of its tension.

5+5 opening at Setba by Yang Shun

Words of Yang Shun at Setba 5+5 exhibition opening

Good evening! and I as the only Chinese artists attended the opening ceremony, on behalf of all the participating artists have to express my most sincere greetings and thanks to everyone! Very thanked the Setba Foundation for providing such a wonderful platform contributed to this wonderful project. Also very grateful to all the efforts and cooperation of the artists, and if without enough love and understanding, this exhibition would not be showing today. This project has been planned since the beginning of last year, during this year, we all had spent a lot of effort.

There is a natural fate between paper, and women, I think the artists who like to work with paper medium, all have a sensitive, delicate and humble heart. Base on this common character, makes all the communication full of tacit, no language obstacles, no distance of time and space, although the majority of Chinese artists and Spanish artists have never met, they can understand and appreciate each other through their works, and build a strong friendship. Although the four artists are not able to attend today's opening , but through these works, as if they are here sitting with us, and opening their hearts to us, I hope you will enjoy these works, and from these delicate and forthright strokes could read their real life and rich spiritual world, thank you very much!

Jenga by Rosa Solano

Jenga series: wood, thread and paper collage on cardboard

Rosa Solano works have textured and presence materials, in the catalan informalism tendency.
Her octagonal structures reflect passing times, an architectural manifesto of great reliving power, certainly romantic.

Variation by Maribel Mas

Pieces in disarray that resemble to organic forms come together by random on the paper, pressed lightly to a corner, or attracted down by gravity.

Fallen flowers
pursues the storm

Fujiwara Teika, 1162-1241

The gesture distinguish Maribel Mas. Sometimes a red soft trace, a bloods echo. Decision and impetus other times. Here are reunited beauty and pain. Maribel Mas is a traditional lithography master, who distillates from the stones a ineffable subtleness.

Oracle by Matilde Vela

Oracle series: stone lithographies

They are answers that are given to us, but we notice them late.
That we don´t understand in their own measurement of depth, of range.

Matilde Vela, 2013

There is a veiling and desveiling process on Matilde Vela. Her deliberated white limitation reminds us the minimalist Rober Ryman, not in the sense of following an analitic method instead a searching of the hue, the meaning of transparency: thats the metaphoric and poetic role of her titles.

Toward Harmony by Matilde Vela

This etching series untitled Toward Harmony, conceived long time ago, had been resting.

Due coincidences does not exist, just in this moment that I am feeling in a similar mood, I have the opportunity of presenting these works in a case.

The square, the earth, and sometimes a tree, are symbols that I am used to appropriate in order to express my feelings.
